Investment Options
The Right Options
A true open architecture platform provides plan sponsors with unlimited investment options. That is, if it is possible to invest new dollars in the investment, then an open architecture platform should provide access to that investment. Through consultation with your independent investment advisor, the plan’s investment policy statement should define the types of investments that can be included in the plan. Most commonly these include:
- Retail and Institutional Mutual Funds
- Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
- Collective Investment Funds (CIFs)
- Self-Directed Brokerage Accounts
- Separate accounts.
The importance of enlisting the services of an independent investment advisor cannot be overstated. We believe that it is critical for the plan to receive unbiased investment advice from a qualified advisor. This advice should be forthcoming at the time of plan establishment and continue on a regular basis throughout the life of the plan.
